I would like to start off with Bailey's due date. I remember that year not getting my period when I should have before Christmas and wondering the whole time I was at my parent's house if I was pregnant. I was going to wait till we got home to take the test though. For some reason, I had ask Luke to go get the test and he didn't that whole week between Christmas and New Year's Eve. I am not really sure why I didn't just go get it at that point, but I didn't and so I waited even longer and still didn't have my period. Finally, when he did get it, it was of course positive and we were thrilled! He had picked it up before the first of three ice days, so we had three days at home together to process the good news. We made the first appointment, which blood work and a sonogram confirmed. At that appointment, we were given the due date of September 5th, which lined up perfectly with what we thought. At 12 weeks, I had to change to an OBGYN as my previous doctor only practiced as a GYN. We picked a new doctor, which we really liked, but for some reason my first doctor didn't get the second doctor all my files in time, so at that first appointment they did a sonogram and said the due date was Sept 10th. I thought it was really weird as 5 days seemed like a big difference, but didn't put up a fight. Well, at 20 weeks my insurance stopped covering this particular doctor's office and I had to change doctor's again. The third doctor insisted on establishing their own due date and this time it was pushed back to Sept 16th. I was really frustrated as I knew this date was impossible because of when Luke had a back surgery that year, but they said that was how the baby was measuring. I was also frustrated because I had been told by all three doctor's that the first sonogram was the most accurate, but neither the second or third doctor would use it. I don't know what was the right due date, but Bailey decided to come September 14th.
Her name: I had loved the name Bailey ever since high school. I remember liking the t.v. show Party of 5, which had a male character named Bailey and I think that's where it came from. Anyways, I always hoped to have a little girl named Bailey. Before we found out she was a girl, one of the strongest contenders besides Bailey Abigail was Hannah Abigail Mezger, but I never liked that her initials would be HAM. If we had had a boy, we both really liked the name Jacob, although Luke had really pushed for Blake. Anyways, Luke ended up liking Bailey and let me have it, although we didn't announce it until after her birth. I think it's fun that we have all b lettered kid names, but we never intentionally did it.
A really fun thing was a couple months after we found out we were pregnant, we found out that Kyle & Ali were too!!! This was on the night that they announced to their families that they were expecting. Poor Ali, I remember her being really nauseated that night.
We were given two showers for Bailey: one was for all the pregnant ladies at school and the other was for friends and family given by Mindy, Tara, and Katie.
This is the Galindo one. I was the only one expecting a little girl.
And I made Luke come : )
These were all the mommies-to-be in order of due date, with me being the least pregnant here at 5.5 months
A sweet gift from the kindergarten team
And here are some pictures from the friends and family shower
Tara found an awesome cake lady who made this to match the invitation
Here was the diaper cake with lion on top. Lion has been Bailey's faithful friend for the last 4+ years.
And a lot my side of the family came, including a cousin not pictured
Tara & I. I will never forget playing the "How big is the belly game" with toilet paper and Tara's estimate was atleast 3x as big as I was.
Here's Mindy and I. While toasting at our wedding, she mentioned looking forward to having kids together in Austin. She got a year and a half head start on me, but it has been nice to have someone one step ahead of me to know watch and learn from.
That summer I taught summer school through the last week of June so that we could take a really fun babymoon. Since we enjoyed Maui the summer before, we decided to try Oahu.
I enjoyed at least one snowcone a day.
We enjoyed visiting the Dole Pineapple plant &
the Pearl Harbor Memorial.
Luke was looking at the oil that still leaks from the Arizona.
We went the first full week of July that year, which was right after summer school and the last week I was allowed to travel. I was 33.5 weeks pregnant here.
I had a Jeep my senior year of high school and all through college. I was so sad to have to sell it when I got married, but it didn't have air conditioning and wasn't reasonable for me with my job. It was so fun to rent this and definitely brought back memories.
One of the views.
The luau
One day we spent hiking.
And the last day we saw a group of turtles headed to the beach.
One other pregnancy memory was selling our first home. It took 4 years to complete, got a contract after 10 days on the market, and we had to be out in 2 weeks. To celebrate, we had a bunch of friends over for a Woodview Finish Party, which including pencil breaking (remember that game from elementary school?) and some Phase 10.
As I recall, Joel won the pencil breaking in the championship round against Robby.
One thing I will never forget about Bailey's pregnancy was that she was in a transverse position until 37.5 weeks. That means that she was neither head down, nor feet down, but sideways. I ended up going to two acupuncture appointments and whether or not those worked, she turned down before my 38 week appt. If she hadn't then they were going to try to turn her from the outside, which I have heard is really painful. This was the sonogram picture we got at the 38 week appointment confirming she was head down. This picture was a bit scary to me because her cheeks looked huge to me. Funny thing was she did come out looking just like this, but the chubby cheeks were so much cuter in person.
