January has flown by as it usually does as a busy month, but this time more in a blur due to sleeplessness. What I have learned most about life with three kids is that you just have to keep going and push through the tiredness, that whatever was left of my brain is gone, and everything seems to just take longer. Despite that, life is fun. Seriously! Here's some fun stuff we've been up to this past month, but I will start with a little update on the kids.
Blair turned 2 months old! She weighed in at 11lbs, 3 ozs (50th percentile) & was 23.5 inches tall (90th percentile) at the 2 month old check up. Sadly this means we have said good bye to all newborn and alot of 3 month old clothing. She is generally happy baby with about an hour or two grumpy time at night. As far as sleep goes, right now she is only sleeping about a 5 hour stretch at night (6 hours at best and 4 hours at our worst) and then waking up every 2 hours after that. We need to work on this because if she goes to sleep at 8, which she would like to, then we are usually up at 1 am, 3 am, 5 am, and 7 am, which is exhausting. Other than that she is smiling, cooing, and blowing raspberries.
It's always interesting for us to hear who people think she looks like. We think she favors Bailey, but also has some of her own features and her expressions are definitely different. Here's are pictures of Bailey (left) and Blake (right) taken at 2 months. I wanted these side-by-side, but click on them to enlarge.
Bailey and Blake LOVE their little sister and we have had lots of photo shoots at their requests.
I feel like we are in a learning some new rules phase with Blake because he is everywhere and into everything. An example of this: Blake has learned how to climb over the baby gate with the help of the timeout chair. We have this baby gate set up so that the kids stay in the front of the house when Luke is working in his home office. Needless to say he has kept me busy and we did some more baby proofing.
I have enjoyed my Bailey day on Mondays and have been trying to have an activity to do. We were lining up her cars by what letter they started with.
Bailey is going through a drawing/writing phase. Here are some recent masterpieces. The first one is ironic because I couldn't ask for better behavior from Bailey lately, it's not perfect, but she is growing in her ability to show self control!
We also celebrated Franny's birthday and I got some good pictures of her and the grandkids.
Luke planted our spring garden. He was great and had Bailey be his helper and also watched Blair (she's in the swing in the left of the picture) so I could nap. Hopefully lots of yummy greens to juice in the next few months.
This is Bailey and Luke working on her mini garden, which has corn, tomatoes, carrots, and strawberries.
Speaking of juicing, watch out if you come over to my house because I will probably make you try one of my latest concoctions! Everyone has been a trooper so far. Ben & Chelsie were trying a beet, cucumber, celery, apple, carrot, spinach, kale, kiwi, zucchini combo.
We also had a reunion with our old Grace Covenant small group (minus the Johnsons in Minnesota & the Greene's in China) because the Hanks came to Austin. 7 kids & 10 adults!!!
Here's the youngest of the kiddo crew- all girls! Daniel with Luna, Patrick with Blair, Rose with Hazel, and me with Amelia.
Oh, and last week was qutie a week with two once in a lifetime events!
The first was that I got caught in a hail storm while walking with a friend. Yes, I knew it was supposed to rain, but went walking anyways. Didn't know it would hail...
The second thing that happened last week was that Franny accidently locked Bailey in the car.
Looking forward to more fun times in February!
