Rodeo Days, Part 1

Preschool Rodeo week may be one of our favorite weeks over here at the Mezger household. The school veers from it's usual routine to have activities that include a petting zoo of farm animals, pony rides, panning for gold, rocking horse races, a western show that the teachers put on, and a special "rodeo" lunch. The best part may be that it's open to the whole family to come up and enjoy. Bailey would tell you that her favorite part was getting to wear all her cowgirl outfits (we had one for each day).

Didn't get a picture of Day 1, but this was Day 2.

On a side note, I used to hate to pick Bailey up from preschool because I never knew what I going to get from the teacher- she needs to work on this or she had a hard time with this, but that all changed last year with the very gifted Ms. Ruthie. This year started off a little rough because we didn't start Bailey at the beginning and there was some transition adjustments we couldn't have foreseen. Just recently though I think her teacher saw a different side to Bailey and said some things to me that were good for my heart. One of the conversations had to do with Bailey's enthusiasm and excitement about rodeo and how that spilled over to all her friends. She also commented how confident she was to wear all her cowgirl outfits and sorta has this bottom shake she does (which I totally know) when she is really excited. Anyways, she may not look happy, but she WAS!

Enough mommy journaling and on to rodeo pictures-

The bunnies were a favorite to hold.

Blair chasing the goats.

Blake and Lila, a friend from school.

Bailey's "real" gold rocks.

Her stick horse- Lighting.

It was so good for us to do an activity that Blair enjoyed so much.

Elijah checking out the calf and donkey.

Bailey riding the pony.

Bailey was in her element at the petting zoo station. All of her classmates were afraid to pick up the bunnies, so Bailey put herself in charge of catching them for everyone and would instruct them on how to hold the bunnies. It was cool to see her helping everyone out in an appropriate way (not bossy or too intense).

Rodeo Days, Part 2 coming as we head to the Austin Rodeo this upcoming week.
