Big Girls Go Pee Pee On the Potty

Sorry for the lack of posts lately, but we are in the middle of potty training. Long story short this is our third stab at potty training and thankfully it is going to be our last! There have still been a few accidents in the last week, but for the most part she is telling us when she needs to go and we don't have to run when she says it. My pocketbook is singing!

Port A

A couple of weeks ago we took a family trip to Port Aransas with the other Mezgers, the Foshea family, the Murray family, and the Breges. We took a trip with these families 2 years ago to Holden Beach in North Carolina and it was time to do it again. However, with 7 kids under 2 1/2 all in the same house it was alot of work at times, but so worth it! We have many memories from this trip that will last a lifetime. Here are some of the highlights:

Blake hanging on the beach

Bailey and Luke having fun in the water

Bailey and Emmy chasing the waves. They did this for hours!

I thought this was a fun family picture

Guys trip with the kids to the Texas State Aquarium

Almost all the kids at the same place at the same time. Not an easy thing to do. Missing is Boone who was napping.

The Girls

Joel, Kyle, and Luke. Luke worked really hard to get the design of the sand recliners right.

Cousin Look-A-Likes

Last weekend we met up with some of Luke's cousins on the Mezger side for a mini reunion at Enchanted Rock. This was Blake's first camping trip and besides a crazy diaper change at 5 a.m. he did really good. Blake, Bailey, and I even made it to the top of the rock and back down thanks to cousin Lee Anne who helped with Bailey who just got pooped at the end.

From left to right: Erin, Liz, Lexi, Jason, and Luke

We could not get over the resemblence between Blake and Drew (on the left). Drew is Luke's cousin Lexi's son (not sure about the grammar on that last part). We felt like we got a glimpse of what little Blake is going to look like.

We have also always thought that Bailey favored Jacob, although not as much in this picture as others. Jacob is Jason's son and Jason is brother to Lexi (mentioned above). Bailey loved playing with Jacob! It was so cute how she followed him around like little a shadow while they played in the dirt with the walking sticks.

Isn't it interesting that both our kids would favor their 2nd cousins.

Spinach Anyone?

Luke harvested our first batch of spinach, and I really don't think these pictures do justice to the amount that we have. It's probably equivalent to 5 bags you would buy in the store. So if you want so spinach, then come and get it*. * While supplies last : ).

Here's an picture of our garden which is thriving!

Blake- 2 Month Update

In the last 2 weeks we have seen some major changes in our Blakey. He seems to have changed from a sleepy newborn to a more alert baby. As far as appearances goes, everyone seems to think he think looks like his daddy and we agree! He has also gotten alot bigger- at his 2 month check up he weighed 11 lbs, 8 ozs ( 50th percentile) and was 23.5 inches tall (70th percentile). Interestingly, he weighs exactly what Bailey did at her 4 month checkup. Sadly this means that he is outgrowing all the sweet, little 0-3 month old clothing.

Developmentally, he has started tracking things, and even smiles and coos now. Blake continues to go longer and longer periods of time without being held during the day and just recently learned that if he kicks in the bouncy chair the animals move. The best part of this is that it can provide up to 15 minutes of entertainment so mommy can get stuff done. He also continues to sleep longer and longer stretches at night. Most nights he sleeps from 10:30ish to 7:00ish, nurses then goes back to sleep until 11:30ish. Here are two recent pictures.
