My Bailey Boo

I thought I would do a little spotlight on Bailey since it's also been a while, but where to start...

Bailey is my crazy curly haired, blue eyed, ACTIVE, observant, imaginative little 3 year old.

The first thing people usually say when they see her is something about her curly hair or her blue eyes. Her hair has definately gotten fuller, but the longer it gets, the tighter it curls so it has basically stayed at the same length since this time last year. And I must say that she really does have some beautiful big, blue eyes (but I am definately partial.)

She continues to be active or high energy, however you would prefer to say it, so we still do lots of bike rides, walks, swinging, climbing, sand box playing, and park hopping to help get out all of that 3 year oldness. Franny even started her swimming in April.

She still very much loves her lion and other interests are cars, toy story, dinosaurs, and sometimes princesses. She really enjoys using her imagination to play for really long periods of time. A couple of months ago we had to take away most of her movies because they didn't have kind hand and kind words. Bailey in her innocence was just acting out what she was seeing on tv, which was not always appropriate. So, new favorite shows include Diego, Bob the Builder, Dinosaur Train, and Veggie Tales. We are still going to take her to Cars 2 movie out this summer, but her behavior has been better since taking away her movies so much so that we are going to stick our current plan with an exception every once in awhile. The hardest person for her to show kind hands with and have kind words is her brother. She can be very sweet and sharing at times, but they each need their space sometimes too- Bailey when she is playing and Blake when he is getting wrestled. I have seen progress in them actually playing together more and Bailey helping Blake with the McQueen car when he gets stuck.

Her newest thing lately is that she needs to know what's happening next, although the concept of tomorrow and tonight have been hard. First thing she will ask in the mornings is where are we going, then where are we going after that, and after that, until I can't tell her anymore at which point she usually informs me that maybe we are going to Abby or Emmy or Owen or Elijah's house. She also has my iphone totally figured out as far as music and games go, which is great in a bind, but we had to have a talk about how we don't get to use it all the time. And just a few days ago she figured out how to take pictures, although she still needs to learn how to put the item in the screen if she wants a picture of it like the picture below when she was trying to get a picture of Buzz.

Lately daddy has been working alot more, so we have been doing our rounds going to Mezger Homes sites when we know he's around. I don't think Luke anticipated this, but Owen and Bailey are definately in the Mezger Homes Junior Builder's club. She is also Luke's little assistant when it comes to the garden. She likes to report in to him if something is ready to be picked, needs watering, or if the birds/squirrels have gotten into the strawberries again.

On a sad note, she continues to fear monkeys and that they are going to get her at night. About a month ago she was waking up a couple nights a week afraid of mean monkeys getting her. I remember one specific night when she came in our room and ask us if we were sure we had locked every door and shut windows so they won't get us. She even started praying to God to protect her from the monkies and help her not be scared. She also took to sleeping at the very edge of her room. Thankfully she is back to sleeping in her bed and is not waking up in the middle of the night.

On a proud parent note, we have seen her growing in her knowledge of the Bible and God. Her favorite Bible stories are Noah and the ark, David killing Goliath, The Good Samaritan, and the stories of Jesus's birth and resurrection. Every once in awhile, we kinda prep Bailey by reminding her to obey her teachers and to have kind words, kind hands, and a sharing heart. She has started telling us to make sure we obey God today. It's really cute and let's us know she is really listening.

And she just wouldn't be a kid if there wasn't atleast one weird thing about her. Her weird thing of the week last week was that she wanted to eat peas porridge hot every morning for breakfast, you know like from the nursery ryhme (Peas porridge hot, peas porridge cold, peas porridge in a pot 9 days old...). Don't ask me why, but she had learned it at school and wanted to eat it. This is what I came up with in our pantry/freezer- blueberry oatmeal with a side of peas. She ask me if this was really peas porridge hot and I said of course. : )

I love that first picture. Such a cute dress to go with a cute little girl. Clever thinking on the "peas porridge hot."
