One day this last week, I dropped a tube of biscuits on the floor bursting it open and decided to jump into a resurrection lesson. (Yeah for prepared spontaneity!) I am sure most of you have heard of the resurrection cookies, but have you heard of the resurrection biscuits? To me they are a shorter (this was key because my kids don't have long attention spans) toddler friendly version simply focusing on the fact that Jesus wasn't in the tomb, just as he said he wouldn't be.
Resurrection Biscuits
1 tube of biscuits
1/2 stick melted butter
as many marshmallows as you have biscuits
sugar
cinnamon
Roll the biscuits flat.
Stick a marshmallow in the middle. (The marshmallow represents Jesus)
Melt the butter and create a sugar/cinnamon mixture.
Brush "Jesus" & the biscuit with the melted butter & sugar/cinnamon mixture. (This represents the burial spices & the preparing of the body to be buried)
Fold over and seal up the biscuit. (as the tomb was sealed)
We had enough butter, sugar & cinnamon to add to the top of the biscuits.
Bake according to the directions on the biscuit tube.
When you pull them out of the oven, cut open to see that the marshmallow will have melted, just as Jesus wasn't in the tomb.
I am hoping to do this a couple of times before Easter and possibly adding to it. If nothing else it's an easy recipe for your little helpers! Bailey has already ask to make more Jesus caves! Enjoy!
