The Ranch

For Luke's birthday I gave him a weekend at the Ranch, which I just got around to scheduling because the trip he wanted included two other families with crazy schedules just like ours. So a trip to the Ranch for Luke means extended time (like 8 hours) shooting long range targets with Kyle and Joel, and so that the wives of said husbands didn't want to kill me for taking away their husband for the weekend we made it a family trip.

We arrived first and unpacked quickly so that we could enjoy a "beach" ride before the sunset. Blake called the Jeep a beach and it stuck.

Bailey and Blake were on the lookout for deer and getting them gangsta style with Bailey's pink pistols.

The Foshea fam arrived shortly after and we took Jeep ride #2

5 happy, happy kids= 2 happy, happy mamas!

Accomodations at the ranch can create a challenge with small kids. We put Blake to bed in the bed Luke and I were going to sleep in with Blair in a pack'n'play in that same room. When I went to check on Blake I didn't see him in the bed and panicked for just a second until I found both him & Blair fast asleep in Blair's pack'n'play. Such a sweet little guy!

The next morning we took the Jeep up to the highest point on the ranch, which has great views and makes a good backdrop for pictures.

The kids!

Then it was off to Big Sandy where we found countless tadpoles and baby frogs, had water gun fights, Uncle Kyle set up a minnow trap, swam like a fish or lounged like a hippo, and JUST HAD FUN! It was the most relaxing time I have had with all 3 kids since I have had 3 kids.

This girl wins the Get-Along-Gang Award. She didn't make a peep despite only getting a 15 minute morning nap.

Baby frogs were everywhere. Made me think of the plague from Exodus.

Water guns are fun for all ages!!!

Katie and I were thinking do we have to leave??? But it was time to let the boys shoot guns.

Mr. No Napper, but he was perfectly happy sitting in the "beach" with his ears covered watching daddy.

The accomodations plus Maggie's schedule made it too hard for Ali to come out, so Owen got some special daddy time.

And of course, after watching Owen pull the trigger, then Emmy wanted a turn.

Blair was getting to be baby Moses while the big kid's watched their morning movie.

So to give the boys some more time to shoot targets, Katie and I went back to Big Sandy.

Eagle Eyes Katie spotted a Rattle Snake!

And while Blair took her morning nap, the big kids played hard and this time we stayed near the road.

This is what Big Sandy looks like. Note a nakey girl in the background and therefore not as many postable pics.

I swear that Bailey is part fish. If the water was high enough for her to be under then she was letting the current just sweep her away!

After alot of fun and a serious scare when the Jeep wouldn't start, we were headed back to the Ranch to head back to Austin where some serious bath were needed.

Rub-a-dub-dub, three Mezgers in a tub!

Happy Birthday Luke!
