I think I have said this before, but one of my favorite Christmas traditions is that we write the kids a letter and give them an ornament that represents the year. It is something that I am very intentional with, so I don't leave it for the last minute, which I have learned means this- sometime in August I make the kids pick their Halloween costumes & start figuring that out, meanwhile I make our Thankful turkey, and start brainstorming ornaments to order and what we will say to each kid. I have just learned that as soon as Bailey has her birthday in September we all buckle in & hold on for the ride through December and I don't have time to do these things if I wait for Fall. So if I have a far away look in August, you now know where my brain is. Then when we are putting up the tree, we read the letters and give them the first ornaments to put up that year.
Here is what this year's ornaments were-
Bailey
One coincidence is that the lizard pictured is a thorny devil (according to Bailey) and that is one of the things she sent in her shoebox (see previous post).
Blake
What's cool about this one is that it was a kit that he & Luke made! We are still trying to decide if we will use Kragle!?!?
Blair
No surprise here.
Beau
An easy first ornament and the best part of 2014 for me.
Family
I still can't believe we have a new house!?!?
