Port A- The Mezgers are Back

I didn't think we were going to go to the beach this year even though I seriously think you can't get an easier trip with kids. It would have been breaking a 5 year tradition of going to the beach and in the end we couldn't stay away or break the tradition. It was a very quick trip though and we only had 2 days at the beach, which didn't quite feel like enough to squeeze in all our favorite things, but we managed. One thing we learned is that 2 weeks before you want to go somewhere won't leave you alot of options for place to stay. We ended up staying at La Mirage, which we stayed at back in 2010. I am glad we are hard core beach people because the unit we stayed in was in need of some TLC, so we really were only there for breakfast, dinner and bedtime. We did have a blast and it was very relaxing to take a break of the day-to-day. The only thing I didn't like was that there was tar all over the beach and in the water. I have not ever seen tar as an adult and it got all over everyone's swim suits and ruined them. To my surprise there was no seaweed, which was horrible last year! Anyways, here's a look at the trip broken down by kid.

Bailey

Bailey wins the friendship award for this trip. I love that she loves to make new friends and is an extrovert. On day 2 we had 2 little girls from the next site "over" most of our beach time. Besides that Bailey was very busy either in her own imaginary world in the sand or on the boogie board out in the deep water. She also helped us keep the tradition of bury someone on our trip. We brought Battleship and Bailey quickly learned how to play and got sucked in wanting to play it all the time while at our condo.

Blake

Blake wins the stick-with-it award for helping daddy with the sand castle to the very end. He worked really hard and he gets credit for the bridge. I also give him the creature adventurer for catching 3 sand shrimp. I am always impressed at how much Blake plays in the sand considering in any other circumstance he does not like dirt/sand on his hands. The beach is and always has been different though. One thing I want to remember is how much he loved the lounger chair in the condo. It was his spot as seen by the picture below!

Blair

Little Miss Sunshine goes to Blair. She is my smiley sweet little girl and let mommy take all the pictures she wanted. She definitely keeps up with the older 2 and wanted her turn on everything. This was her first time out with the boogie board and did great! She also caught her first crab with her hands, which I think would earn her the brave award. I won't even do that, but again she is always keeping up with Bailey & Blake.

Beau

Get-a-long Gang Award goes to Beau. He was for the most part super easy going & even napped both days in my arms. He was very cautious with the water and I didn't have to worry about watching him as closely as others at that age because he only went waist deep (and that was on the 2nd day). He loved to go over whatever sand creation we made and was usually covered in sand. He eventually warmed up to the water as you can see and loved for the waves to get him. Lastly, you may notice that he is not sucking on his two fingers in the pictures!!! This was due to the sand and he really didn't suck on them except to go to sleep at night & it was so nice to see his smile more and hear him talk more.

I guess this would be the exception to the finger sucking, but we were coming from dinner to feed the seagulls.

Until next time Port A!

(I hope to upload videos in another post)
