The Hill Country Camping Society's First 2011-2012 Campout

The families of the Hill Country Camping Society "roughed it" out at Pace Bend for our first campout of the 2011-2012 school year. By roughing it, I mean car camping at it's easiest & where we were close enough to Austin that Ali, Maggie, and I headed back sometime around 10 pm to get a real night's sleep. Bailey was so excited that she had made her pile of things to bring by 8:00 that morning and the "When do we leave to go camping?" began. I understand her excitement as it was a day and a half of exploring, playing, hiking, biking, getting dirty, pretending and really just having freedom without alot of rules. Who needs technology when there's that much to do??? I love it because even when I was on duty watching Blake, I was sitting around visiting with good friends, which always makes it seem like less work. The only sad part was that due to the burn ban we could not have a campfire and unroasted marshmallows just aren't the same as roasted ones smothered in chocolate with a graham cracker. I tried to take pictures myself this time instead of always bumming off of Ali and here's what I caught. I will let you guess the color of the bath water for the kids & Blue...
