If you read my first adventures, then you know the outcome of this tale, but it always helps to have a little humor on hard days and kids are only little little once, so here we go...
Captain De-Clutter wakes up and has a great outlook on the day. Despite the fact she left a full box of cereal within Curious Kid's reach during breakfast, which he dumps out, she is excited about getting stuff done while Explorer Kid is at preschool. After a nice long walk, project number one is to clean up the kitchen area. This means picking up after breakfast and her mid-morning snack, unloading a very full dishwasher and hopefully sweeping and mopping the kitchen floors that still have what Blue hasn't eaten of the cereal left on them. While unloading the dishwasher and Captian De-Clutter's back is turned, Curious Kid wants to know what that brown stuff is that Captain De-Clutter was putting on her apples and that brown drink in her cup, so his curious hands (with lighting speed might I add) reached into both. YUMMY! And really, who's to say that tea can't be used as hair gel or nutella as lip gloss. After Captain De-Clutter cleans his face, calms the hair, and removes the fun, Curious Kid decides to move the chair over to our kitchen desk area for his next act. He has seen Explorer Kid picking out stickers to put on her chore chart and since Captain De-Clutter hasn't let him have a part in it, he's curious about it and again with lighting speed and impeccable timing he dumps out all the stickers. Now Captain De-Clutter was a former teacher and has ALOT of stickers and Curious Kid can't believe how much fun this is. What was Captain De-Clutter doing? Still unloading the dishwasher.
Captain De-Clutter is now getting serious about finishing up the kitchen clean up and locks Curious Kid in there with her. Curious Kid can't believe his eyes. There are so many things to be curious about- emptying the pantry snack drawers and either throwing the snacks on the ground or in the trash can, then it's off to cleaning out the tupperware cabinet, followed by dumping over the very full and should have been taken out trash. Curious Kid thinks it's weird that Captain De-Clutter doesn't seem to care, but it doesn't matter because it's so much fun. In reality, Captain De-Clutter decided to take a phone call, left the kitchen unguarded and then had a hard time getting off the phone. After accessing the damage, Captain De-Clutter decides to use the same trick that worked with Explorer Kid and heads outside with the water hose and she will save her efforts for the house until later. She doesn't take a picture of the kitchen because she loves that Curious Kid is curious, but doesn't also want to cry and really she knows that the victory may have been momentarily won by Curious Kid, but she will win the war.
Until next time, because unfortunately, there will be a next time...
