The Beach

Last Saturday we loaded up the crew (Blue included) and headed to Port Aransas for 4 days. Bailey was ask by her VBS leader which beach she was going to and her answer was "my beach", eventually saying that her beach was Port A. We realized on the road that this was our first vacation with just our family, but we also realized that two families we knew would be down there and made plans to hang out. What I will remember about this trip is that after 4 years of heading down to Port A, we definitely have some traditions and things that the kids really look forward to. Our favorite traditions are probably crab hunting, feeding the seagulls & burying someone in the sand. What the kids really look forward to is going out to the deep part of the water and either wave jumping or boogie boarding. For whatever reason, the kids all wanted daddy this trip, which left me on the shore with a pretty good view and so out came the camera.

Blake
If Blake wasn't in the water then he was deep in imaginary play with his dump truck and front-end loader. On the last day the maintainer, front-end loader, and dump trucks were hard at work, which Blake could watch for hours. We of course, had to walk down to see them after they took a lunch break stopping just short of our beach spot. One sad thing that happened was that Blake got stung by a jellyfish. He didn't like the water so much after that. : (

Blair
Blair was just a big sandy/dirty mess most of the time. I am still not sure how she got so much sand on her face, but she did play hard. Besides that she was busy getting into someone else's shoes (and they weren't all ours either), riding on the front-end loader when she could get a turn, and waiting at the shore for daddy to get back.

Pretty brave for the first day.

I thought for sure she would get bitten because she was always sticking her fingers in holes.

Yep, she was playing in the bag.

Bailey
Bailey was just in the water, unless she was on the shore and just kinda in the water. Bailey got really good at boogie boarding this trip and even did it on her own! Bailey insisted on getting buried and when she saw a sand castle that had a hole about the size that she could fit through, she did!

This was right before she decided she was just the right size to fit through the hole.

Wasn't sure she was going to make it through...

but she did!

Then look who was right after her.

Blue
It was Blue's first trip to the beach! Keeping her eyes out for seagulls and sleeping were main priorities.

Visiting the Dugans

The Dugans live in our neighborhood and Bailey & Jack were in the same preschool class this year and Blake & Julia will be next year. It was so fun to hang out with them for a picnic dinner on the beach!

Seagull feeding!

They were pretty aggressive!

Visiting with the DaSilvas

We have gotten to know the DaSilva family through the Fosheas and let me tell you that they know how to do the beach. We are definitely going to add some things to our "take to the beach list" after hanging out with them. Oh, and Blake has pretty much claimed Chase as his beach friend, saying "when we go back to the beach I get to see my beach friend again?"

They also got the only picture of all 5 of us.

The summer solstice moon

Did I mention the kids were all over Luke? Literally.

Luke did get to do some boogie boarding himself.

He has gotten quite good at bridges.

One of Luke's dribble castles.

A quick walk down the jetty before some crab hunting. We ended up catching 13 crabbies!

Look at all that seaweed in the water.

The seaweed mound.

I love all the textures in the sand.

There I am!

Wait where did I go?

Sand Castle Time

There seemed to be more jellyfish than in the past.

A little crab we saw.

Leaving our mark.
