What We've Been Up To- June

Preschool ended about 7 or 8 weeks ago (but who's counting) and I have been determined to have some educational fun this summer with the kids. I am trying to do a very loose homeschool preschool. Here is some of what we have been up to.

Our first theme was summer (very creative I know!). One of the fun things we are doing at the end of summer is we are headed back to Port A. So we made "Ocean in a bottle" & took a trip to the Petsmart down the street to learn about the beach & it's inhabitants.

The kids loved making these and it's SO easy! What you need is 1 bottle that you put a little bit of sand in and fill 2/3 with water and 1/3 with oil. If you want the water to be blue then add blue food coloring. We added glitter and sequins as pretend shells & fish food. At the very top are some foam ocean creatures. I highly recommend that you hot glue it shut!

I have also secretly been gauging where Bailey is academically.

Week 2 we made a Letter Box, specifically for the letter s and filled it with all sorts of things that start with the letter s. It was surprisingly fun to go on a "s" hunt and Bailey actually put alot of effort and time into it.

And did some counting!

What's a fun way to practice writing your letters and get messy? Shaving Creme!!!

Week 3 we spent some time talking about fruits, vegetables, and our garden. We made a rainbow out of all sorts of fruits and vegetables on paper before making a rainbow snack out of some of the things Bailey wanted to try.

What fun things can you do with space for week 4??? Well, moon sand for one. Just combine 8 cups of flour and 1 cup of baby oil  (or double it) and viola!

This is what makes moon sand so fun- it's moldable!

And pretending to be astronauts is another fun thing! And decorating it was some good practice at cutting.

Hope you guys had a fun June too!
