Fall Break could not have come at a more perfect time. We were 7 weeks into school and it was just a good time to take a breather, but especially so since Bailey was recovering from missing 1.5 days of school due to strep throat, which meant make-up work and I hadn't been back since July to visit my side of the family in the DFW area. So LOTS of seeing family and LOTS of farm fun and of course that means lots of pictures. : )
We started our trip in Weatherford so we could see the Penny Family, Andrew, Nana Mary and Aunt Kathy.
Blake with Pumpkin the pig
Bailey and Colt who both happened to have Woody pjs. I can't believe he is 5 months old!!!
Pa and Blake wrestling
Me getting to babysit Colt.
Blake and Uncle Juju (Andrew)
Blake and the Combine
This is Luke next to a combine at a little bit older age, but Blake thinks it is awesome that they are both the same.
The product of Andrew's wheat crop
A short, but fun ride.
Some time with Nana Mary
and Aunt Kathy.
Blair with Uncle Juju.
Then it was off to Santo.
Check out how big the chickens have gotten!
And they are laying eggs!!! It's hard to tell in this picture, but all the eggs are light blue or brown. Bailey loved being Gigi's chicken girl and going to check for eggs, except for the time when the rooster attacked her, but for the most part she has forgotten that.
Bailey's other favorite thing was Chris the cat. I can't tell you how many times I heard "Why can't we have a cat?" "But mommy, Gigi said you liked cats when you were little, so why don't you like them now?"
That night it was Homecoming for Santo, so Blair put on Bailey's old cheer suit and Bailey and Pa went to the game.
The next morning it was COLD, like a high of mid 50's cold, which is just about freezing after the previous day being in the mid 90's.
With Pa there are always rides on gators, four wheelers, tractors and
there's fishing! This was Blake's best catch.
Oh, and I don't want to forget that Blake and Pa had on matching outfits.
And here was Bailey's best catch. Check out her new jaguar suit thanks to Gigi!
Mommy had to get some pictures by the sunflowers with their pumpkin outfits.
And last, but not least we got to visit with the great grandparents on my mom's side. I think it had been 2-3 years since we had last gotten to see them.
So I know I have posted very similar pictures of our adventures in Santo before, but it just doesn't get old to the kids even if it gets old to us. I love their smiles from these pictures of pure joy and the excitement of adventure and just freedom to roam or explore.
The other reason for the trip, which I forgot to mention above, is that I had been dreaming up a little garage project for Luke since we bought the house, but many, many things were prioritized ahead of it. Luke needed me to get the kids out of his hair for 1.5 - 2 days, so I leave for my little trip to Weatherford/Santo and my garage shelves look like this
