We are the Blue Wave, couldn't be prouder!
One of the perks of our new neighborhood is the swim team. We have been at practice now 4 weeks and just had our second meet.
It has been great to see neighbors and get to know people better. Here's Erika & I headed up to practice with all hers, all mine, plus 2 Risingers.
The first swim meet was a little intense- there was a thunderstorm overnight & the morning of, therefore we were told of a delay in arrival time, but not a delay of start time of the meet. Very important difference as we were scrambling to get kids ready & up there at the last minute & just sent them from the parking lot to the pool telling them to find their tent. And once the swim meet started, everything went so fast you could easily miss an event if you were not paying attention. Lots of studying heat sheets, seeing friends, yelling for BW, congratulating swimmers!!!
The ready bench.
The events
At one point Bailey ask me if I was even watching her because she couldn't hear me yelling. So when she was swimming the backstroke in lane 6 I was at the finish line & a bit of my mom came out. I was yelling as loud as I could & she finally heard me. : )
Swimming the Butterfly
The rain let up by this point so I walked to the Assuntos house, which is where I had to park & grabbed my nice camera to take better pictures of her last event.
Such a confidence booster for Bailey, winning a heat!
Blake also swam in his first meet in the freestyle!
I was juggling feeding Beau while trying to watch while trying to take pictures so this is the only picture I got. This was pretty representative of what the race looked like though. He actually swam in the time trails, but maybe got nervous at the meet.
Swim Meet #2 was much better! No delayed start, the sun made an appearance, we just had the kids eat breakfast at the meet, hired a babysitter to stay at the house when Beau needed to nap, and brought activities for Bailey because it's a long day (she is at the pool from 6:40- 1:30).
This is Bailey with her friend Sarah from our Fellowship group.
Blake with his friend Henry
The pep rally
The Future Blue Waver, but current cheerleader. She knows her Blue Wave cheers, yells for her brother & sister, is a master baby frog catcher (I think she has caught over 25 between practices & meets), and is great a self-playing.
1st in her heat in butterfly again!
